Dear Parents,

We are looking for a private school for our 4 year old as we are not happy with the current school; Please see list below and let me know if you have any advise based on your personal experience; Thank you :)

  1. St Johns Beaumont (We really liked this school)
  2. LVS Ascot (I dont think this is a good fit for us)
  3. St Georges Weybridge (Didnt feel this was a good fit)
  4. Hallgrove (Need to visit)
  5. Upton House (Need to visit)
  6. Cranemore (Need to visit)

Our children went to Stonyhurst, St John’s Beaumont feeds into this school,

The SJB kids were all really nice.

How long does it take you to get to each one?

All are about 20-25 mins from my house. Upton house is about 30mins.

We can make it work. We just want a healthy environment for our 4 year old as we’ve had a really negative experience in his current setting where kids were punching and kicking and saying things about the colour of his skin etc.

Oh dear - very sorry to hear
was it state or private?

When pastoral care is the main reason you are moving, the question that actually tells you something on a visit is this: ask them to describe what happens when a child reports being hurt or left out by another child. Not what the policy says. What actually happens, how quickly, who gets told, what changes afterwards. Every school will have a nice answer ready about their anti bullying policy. Far fewer will be able to give you a specific, confident answer to that question. The ones that can are usually the ones that actually deal with it properly.

Upton is enormously strong on the pastoral care and is a really lovely and nurturing school. I’d certainly recommend having a look round.

I have a friend whose son left St John's Beaumont last year having been there for quite a few years. She was definitely of the opinion it had gone downhill in the time they were there - although he still seemed happy enough to me and did well.

Hi, my son is currently at SJB in nursery. My eldest also went there.

Happy to chat
