Run-through or 11+/13+?

Would really value thoughts if you’ve been in a similar predicament or have any related experience.

DS7- in YR3 of run-through co-ed prep to 18 if we’re up for it. Summer born and age appropriate in all subjects.

Very social, not sporty and enjoys learning when he’s enthused about the topic but current school is very dry, worksheet based.

Very cognitively able. A recent Ed Pysch review has him as gifted ability but he likely has dysgraphia and mild dyspraxia that has been inhibiting his ability to show his potential.

Current school is not recognising this ability nor making reasonable accommodations to allow him to have the opportunity to do so hence why we’ve been looking at alternatives that offer a more holistic approach…

But those options would necessitate him sitting 11+/13+ for selective schools in London when the time comes.

It’s so hard to know if he will start showing this amazing potential academically. We picked the run-through so as to avoid the exam insanity here in N. London but we don’t want to do him a disservice by leaving him in a school that doesn’t want to support him as he isn’t poor enough for intervention nor currently brilliant enough academically for enrichment.

thanks for opinions!

Honestly, I would move him now. It sounds as if his current school is not doing enough for him. If he is disengaged at 7 by dry worksheets, you don't want another 3 years of that. Are there any other all throughs? Or look for a prep that has a good track record of getting the children into schools you like at 11/13.

If you can move him now, I would. He needs to thrive, not survive. Have a similar child, bright but is ND so needs help reaching their potential. Our school have taken the Ed Psych and used it to ensure they are reaching their potential, pushing where they can and supporting on the areas they scored low on.
If it has to be 11+ or 13, I would do 11+ as common entrance is even harder to get a place. Most schools let you defer to 13 I think. I would go and look at all the local schools (state, grammar and independent), if you can and see what works for your child.

You are so far off from picking 11 plus or 13 plus.
The head isn’t accepting his needs and potentially doesn’t want to accept sen children and be inclusive.
You need to live each year lots of things can change before the 11 plus you are looking too far in the future.
I would say the current school is not appropriate for your child
Good luck go and find a nice understanding head!
