Hi all.

Completely new to the Solihull area. Looking for any information about Eversfield Prep and Solihull School for my DC who is due to start reception in September. I’m worried that DC won’t be able to play and be childish at either of these schools - I’d love to hear of other’s experiences.

Thanks.

Solihull school seems to be the one that people really like. Im not in the paying for private school bracket myself but i do work in education and you hear things about various schools. I also know a few people who have sent their children there and from what I’ve heard it’s meant to be very good and really quite nurturing. I’ve never even heard of Eversfield prep.

People seem to love or hate Solihull I’ve found. I like the idea of just a prep as there’s the option of grammar at year 7 which is a bit more difficult with Solihull with it being a through school.

Would love to hear any specifics you have heard!

The people I know moved their children towards the end of primary as the state primaries tend to be pretty good (and some of these were very wealthy so this wasn’t a financial decision) I think Solihull has a reputation that extends outside the immediate area, so people will travel from Sutton etc. The problem with Solihull is that it doesn’t have any grammars and it would be outside of the catchment for the Birmingham grammars, not sure about Walsall. Even if the child did get in, it would be an arduous journey. I would have a look round both and see which you felt was a good fit for your child.

I know this isn’t what you’ve asked, but Crackley hall in kenilworth is a LOVELY school. Not too far from Solihull.

I’ve heard good things about Solihull school though when we looked at applying, I found them a bit snotty to deal with.

my son decided not to apply in the end. Entrance exams clashed with other schools he liked better.

We used the local primary, with both of my Sons getting into the Secondary. I know a parent whose eldest went to Eversfield and thrived there, but as there are no grammar schools here, went to Solihull secondary. She put her second into Solihull prep to ensure his entry into the secondary as well.

Not a bad word to say about either school! I don’t have direct experience of the preps, but I have to say, all the Solihull prep school kids I have met seem really lovely , confident and well mannered

There are a few private prep schools in Solihull including Eversfield, Ruckleigh and Kingswood. They are all good. Eversfield and Ruckleigh are quite big whilst Kingswood is small. I have some friends who rave about this school saying how their children have developed so much confidence since the new headteacher took over. Take a look at all three and reach your own judgement would be my advice
