Best coed 7+ options in central west London?

I’m new to London & our daughter just started at Thomas’s Battersea. What’s our best option for coed 7+ transfers? We chose Thomas’s because it was the easiest for expats but we’re looking to stay & want to know what’s best for a bright but summer birthday girl?

Can’t you just keep her there? Why move?

Why would you move if you want co-ed? Probably Latymer is your best option but you would be choosing it for senior school and staying until 18 (it doesn’t offer GCSEs), whilst Thomas’s will prepare your dd for a range of schools at 11.

I just heard Thomas’s may not be academically competitive? Or is it strong for 11+? Sorry, new to the UK system so learning!

If you are new to the U.K. and want co-ed you should stay at Thomas’s and work out where your dd would thrive in a few years time.

Thomas’ will be fine. Try not to get caught up in the ridiculous chat about the ‘most academic’ schools etc etc. Plenty of good schools ( including state schools!). There are a lot of parents in London who get into a complete fizz about it all and it’s really not necessary!

Thank you! I was hoping to avoid the 11+ rush. as I heard it’s awful for kids. That’s why I thought it might be better to move school earlier?

They’re aren’t many co- ed options for girls at 7+ anyway. You could move her to an all- through girls school if you wanted to avoid the 11plus or you could move her to Ibstock Place. Otherwise it would be 7+ at Latymer or Westminster is going Co-Ed but that would be a different level of stress. Honestly, particularly for girls, the 11+ isn’t too bad and there are enough schools to go round. You might want to change your mind and go single sex by that point.

Ok great feedback, thank you!

I had children at Thomas's Battersea and hated it. There is a ton of bullying and in my opinion the school is mediocre in everything that it doesacademically it's weak, it's probably the least sporty of the Thomas's schools. The kids who get good offers from Thomas's are heavily, heavily tutored it's absolutely not value added from the school. :/ For academic coed schools at 7+ the best options in London are Westminster, Latymer, Alleyns and City Junior School (although City children split to single sex after year 6). Depending on the age of your children Kings College is also going co-ed but that won't happen for a few years!

Not many options. Looks further north to Highgate School.
amazing school academically and grounds but fiercely competitive to get in

Thank you, this is all really helpful. We are in South Kensington so Highgate is too far for a daily commute unfortunately.
