Did you write to the bursars at the end, to thank them? Is this a done thing?

I’ve not had a child on a bursary and I have no idea if it’s the done thing, but I do know, having been a school governor for many years at an independent school, that any school bursar would be delighted with a letter of appreciation when your child finishes at the school. It is a lovely thought.

Thank you so much for feedback. It is all so hush hush but we were incredibly lucky and their generosity will never be forgotten. It was the most amazing & spectacular thing for our family in so many ways. I wonder if I should ask my child to write something, too.

Yes my child was on a bursary. Yes I wrote an email to the head teacher and the bursar in the final term thanking them both for everything the school did in general and for the bursary support that made it all possible. No idea if this is normal but they both wrote back saying various nice things about my child.

Schools love receiving letters from the pupils. Teachers , in particular, treasure them. So much more personal. You and your child should write.

I’m sure. It’s just that this is a delicate topic. We are asked to keep bursary information confidential, so I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to write to teachers.
