Looking at a school for my daughter. Hoping to move her to the preschool and then to the school of either KES prep or Prince’s Mead. Would appreciate any thoughts with regards to the schools

KES prep is in Romsey isn't it? Previously Stroud School? The other is North Winchester?

Unless there us a clear difference I would go with the more accessible one.

Are you intending to stay private for secondary? That might make a difference (eg St Swithins or KE) or go to one of the many v good comps, (depending where you live of course)

Thank you, we live in Chandlers Ford and intend to stay independent for
secondary, however, not sure which one!

CF is about equidistant then!
Sorry can't help either way as we used the Romsey state schools.

(If plans change and if you are in catchment, Thornden does have v good reputation, then PS or BP for 6th form).

I know both schools well and I would say they are very similar. Both lovely schools with happy children and feed to similar senior schools.

If you can it helps to work back from where you think your child might end up for secondary school (I apppreciate it's very difficult when they are so little) but might they want to board, do you want co-ed or single sex etc ... this will help you make the right choice for them for prep schools. If you think they will stay local then I would also suggest looking at Embley. PM and KES prep are both going to be KES senior prep schools (announced today) so the offering going forward should be pretty similar so I'd go with the head (I truly think any school is only as good as the person leading it and when they change it can transform a school for the better or worse)/staff and kids that impress you most and trust your gut. If however you think your child might board then you should consider St Swithuns, Twyford and Pilgrims and they will better prepare your child for this transition and go up to 13.
