Hello,

Our girl is currently in a State school, do private schools tend to accept children from State school at 7+ ? I know there is a bigger acceptance when they do the 11+. We would like to try it but I wasnt sure if it was worth it. We would be looking at NLCS and SHHS.

NLCS has 8-10 places at 7+ - no reason why your DD shouldn't apply for one, it will be dependent on her entrance assessment performance.

If she passes the assessment and you can afford the fees, then yes.

They are not going to reject your DD because she has been at a state school. They will look at her ability at the assessment and judge it on that.

The schools don’t care at all.

They do (usually) care about academic performance though. Some schools are focused on preparing kids for 7+, so they will obviously have an advantage. But if you can do that work yourself with them, coming from state isn’t an issue.

why not move to Paris and go to a top one for 1/3 the cost

Bizarre suggestion

In this scenario yes it is but in light of VAT, it's exactly what some parents are doing ie sending kids to international schools abroad instead of UK independent schools.
