Private schools in Kew

Appreciate this question has been addressed in previous discussion topics, but we are moving to the Kew Gardens area and looking for schools to start in September for our DC who will be in year 2. All schools in the area seem good. We were particularly interested in Unicorn School but wanted to hear from other parents at the school what their experience has been like and whether the school supports children who are taking the 11 plus. We are particularly keen for an environment that fosters healthy friendships and does not tolerate bullying.

I have friends at Kings House who speak highly of it. Not terribly academic apparently but that suits their children

We have a child at Unicorn and can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s a caring school with a family feel (can’t imagine bullying would be tolerated one bit, but no experience of it to refer to), all wonderful teachers for us so far… my ds is only in the infants so a way off 11+, but have heard from other parents that the school are very supportive and whilst they seem to make an effort not to be ‘hothousey’ and protect childhood, I gather they prepare everyone well academically (and pastorally I would say) for yr6 exams. Good luck with your decision!

I would also recommend Unicorn. They definitely foster healthy relationships, it’s a small school with a family feel. Never known any bullying.
They get children into good schools as work hard to match the child to a school that fits them. They really focus on sport, creativity, music etc without the academic suffering, it’s amazing!
