What's going on at Nottingham High School?

The headmaster, Kevin Fear, has resigned / been pushed out. Does anyone have any info?

It is clearly risky to appoint a governor as head when he has been part of the governance process there for five years, and therefore has overseen his predecessor’s tenure and decision making. It is not normal in business for a non-executive director to become executive. Just seems unwise to add an avoidable risk or perceived risk when all independent schools are facing such serious imposed existential threats under this labour government. I am sure we all hope for our children this all blows over and NHS goes from strength to strength.

Really? I went to a similar school elsewhere. When they ask me for money (frequently, but to date I have not given them anything) they stress that it would all be going into the bursary fund. That is astute, as it's the only thing that would tempt me to give them money. I attended on a free place, funded by the taxpayer (the direct grant scheme, abolished in 1976). If I found out that my alma mater was asking me to contribute so they could give out bursaries but was simultaneously using the fees to pay an eyewatering salary to the head, they could whistle for any donation from me.

Have read this thread open-mouthed. The Head appears to have lost his mind. What an example to set to the pupils!

Where Is your proof of that? Mr Fear is divorced from his first wife but the stories around any affair with a member of staff are wholly unsubstantiated unless you have hard evidence to the contrary.

The only evidence of anything is that in the case of him leaving Nottingham High he's spat his dummy out. I have seen the email he sent to the staff. An epic flounce & incredibly unprofessional.

I think I would say that's the opposite of sensitive.

A superhead I used to know gave a young teacher a big promotion just before it became known that they were having an affair. He swore blind that the affair started after he the promotion. Yeah, right. His wife served the divorce papers in the playground. He was Teflon, though. Could do no wrong in the eyes of the LEA, so nothing happened.

Quite. I think everyone to do with the school has seen that email now. I completely agree with you - the only things proven are his salary via the CC website & that he made his own position untenable.

Mr Fear is engaged now to his current partner Michelle & he does refer to her in his email. He’s long since divorced from his first wife & absolutely entitled to get on with his life.

She is literally nothing to do with any of this. The marriage break up was years ago.

This thread is becoming malicious. Kf has left now so leave it be. One of things in place is well being centre. Be kind to each other and to the school and Mr fear , his ex wife and his current partner. This is now yesterday's news .

Cough. The example set to the students which was, if you don't get what you want you spit your dummy out, take your bat and ball home and flounce. Completely at odds with the ethos of the school and its foundations.

On the hand either a Head is important to the running of a school or they are not. The school is now left scrambling to cover and manage for 4 months and offer the service that parents are paying for and pupils deserve. No doubt extra pressure has been put on staff to mop up the gap.

It’s reasonable to observe that they have all been let down, that it is unusual in a school of this status, and not outlandish that questions would be asked.
