International schools in Singapore

Hi! Moving from UK to Singapore, & trying to identify good international schools that follow the UK system to allow smooth re-integration for possible future move back. Looking for academic focus, quality & caring educators, good facilities, diverse cohort of children. We have 2 year old & 4 month old - what’s the recommended advance registration requirements to secure a place? Any tips / suggestions when touring schools to watch out for / ask about? Any experiences to share (past or current!) would be helpful! TIA

It had been far too long ago for me to be able to talk about the schools there but don’t worry about having to stick to the English system. My two did primary schools starting with the Scottish curriculum, then a year in an US school, a year in IB, England for a year 3 years in IB before settling back into England with no problems at all.

One returned to the UK just a few months before year 6 SATs and was still a fairly smooth transition. Primary curriculum is broadly similar as it is driven by what kids can do at that age.

One came into year 8, hasn’t done some subjects before (geography, history and RS are combined as humanities) but still just slotted back in.

I would ask this question in a Singapore expat Facebook group.

The Oracle - Singapore
Stork's Nest

Oracle is brilliant for expat info and schools
Stork's Nest is brilliant for general kids stuff, for both locals and expats.

Lived there for 4 years but we went down a different route for my child who was also 2. Good luck!

Thank you, I was not aware of these! May I kindly PM you about your different route for your 2 yo?

Sure, my child has SEN and we couldn't access mainstream, so I don't know if our experience would be helpful, but you're by very welcome to PM me if it is.
