Hey everyone, we are in the process of buying a property and we have found three that strongly matches what we are looking for (house-wise): Farnham Common, Oxshott and Fleet.

House-wise, the Farnham Common one is better (but the Fleet one is lovely, short walking distance to the high street to boot), but I’m struggling to find as many good options as I can see in Oxshott / Fleet and surrounding areas.

Anything up to 20 minutes drive would be acceptable, so we have some flexibility.

What schools would you recommend we look more closely at? For the Farnham common one option is driving to Windsor in case we can’t find anything near around Bucks

I agree that Gayhurst definitely is more geared up for the 11+ schools, but some children do go onto 13+ schools, (although naturally far less because people have some of the best Grammars in the country on it's doorstep and there's now the addition of VAT on fees to consider). I've added the 11+ data the school has publicly available stating 22 out of the 31 who took the test secured a place at a Bucks selective school in 23/24.

@BB2013 The Bucks grammars on that list are 13 dc aren’t they? Only 4 grammars are named. I don’t know how a y7 and y8 would work when the school says they are 3-11. Must be a bit odd for a few dc to stay!

Some children passed but decided to stay in the independent sector vs Grammar school. You are correct, there is no y7 or y8, but the children take their 1st entry test for the 13+ school in y6. The children then spend years 7 & 8 at another school (usually Davenies, Beacon, Caldicott or Godstowe) prior to taking up their place at the 13+ schools.

@BB2013Well Gayhurst doesn’t educate to age 13 then. You cannot count destinations twice! Either they went to a grammar or didn’t. The independents use the test as back up. It’s not a sensible choice for dc wanting 13 plus though. It’s not got a y7 or y8.
