Farnham or Cranleigh

Relocating to UK and not finding a lot of suitable properties in Farnham (our first choice due to schooling at Rowledge or Bourne). What is Cranleigh like as an area? Anyone here live in this area? SO hard to get a feel for things when stuck in USA.
We would be looking for a good state primary and I see that the Catholic school in Cranleigh is very good.
Can anyone help?

I don't know anything about Cranleigh but I do know a little bit about Farnham. The two schools you mention are in the most affluent parts of Farnham so unless you have an unlimited budget I can see why you would struggle to find suitable properties

There are lots of good state schools in and around Farnham (I can only think of 1 that is rated as statisfactory) so it might be worth expanding your search.
If you are looking for a catholic school, St Polycarps might be a good alternative.

I live just over the county boundary in Horsham, & was brought up in Rudgwick so know the Cranleigh area quite well. Farnham is lovely, and I would consider it to be still quite country town but with good amenities. Cranleigh is essentially a very large village which is in a beautiful area.
Farnham has a train station with good connections to Guildford, London etc, whereas Cranleigh doesn't (the railway line was a fatality of Dr Beeching in 1966) therefore you have to either drive or catch a bus to get out of the village(size of a small town) Cranleigh is well supplied with a range of independent & chain shops albeit on a small scale, but Guildford is close enough to do more extensive shopping.
It really depends on what you are looking for in addition to good schools & quality of life, as there isn't much difference between the two as far as i'm concerned.
