Ds had parents evening on Monday, they had not arrived then. (derbyshire)

Hollylucysmum · 07/07/2010 14:49

Our school has ours, we are getting them tonight at parents evening !!

mumto2andnomore · 07/07/2010 15:55

The schools have ours but the parents haven't been told yet.

Our school (where ds is in Y6 and where I work) had the actual papers returned to them last week. From this the teachers were able to work out a rough level using last years bands. But then the official bands (ie any score above 69 is a 4a for example) came out on the 6th July. So now they can set the final levels. I have been given ds's results but everyone else will received their dc's results on Friday with the end of year report.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/07/2010 16:03

I've just collected ds, the school have them, they have written the number (3/4/5) on a piece of paper but there's no a/b/c yet, the results are with the school secretary and she is making copies for the parents.

LimaCharlie · 07/07/2010 17:44

Full results came home tonight

swill72 · 07/07/2010 18:16

All results were delivered electronically yesterday. Schools will need time to prepare and print off the results before sending out. I would imagine the end of the week is the latest you should need to wait.

Is the highest they can go up to level 5? His teacher said she filled in the teacher assessment and said that she thought he was higher, his 'quick' result was a level 5 though.

roisin · 07/07/2010 18:30

Yes, the official SATs only go up to 5a.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/07/2010 18:31

Ahh, Thankyou. I thought they went up to 5C/5a? How can his teacher mark him as higher if they only go up to 5?

ktee1 · 07/07/2010 18:44

it could be that the teacher assessment is higher, this would be extremely rare, but the highest a child can get on the year 6 SATs test paper is a 5a.

You will probably find you don't get the levels subdivided into a/b/c as they are only guides used by teachers. You are most likely to get information on the level eg 3, 4 or 5

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/07/2010 18:55

thankyou.

Feenie · 07/07/2010 19:04

"How can his teacher mark him as higher if they only go up to 5?"

Because the tests concentrate on a very narrow focus, whereas teacher assessment uses lots of different sources and takes account of lots of evidence from every single aspect of a level in absolute minute detail!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/07/2010 19:06

How does the teacher assessments affect the tests? I know they do in Key stage 1, I wasn't aware of them affecting Key stage 2

Feenie · 07/07/2010 19:12

They stand alone from each other, unlike KS1, and legally have 50% equal weighting.

Guess which ones secondary schools prefer as a rule.....

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/07/2010 19:14

Hmm. The one in which children are assessed on the day, whether they are having an off day/nervous ill or not?

No - most of them go for the sensible, measured version.

Sorry, Pixie - cross posts. I was answering belle and meant teacher assessment as the sensible, measured version, as in arrived at over time

Hollylucysmum · 07/07/2010 20:02

Got ours tonight, all 5s so im feeling very proud woop woop

benandoli · 07/07/2010 20:06

secondary schools take no notice of them at all and retest all the children in the first few weeks

Feenie · 07/07/2010 20:09

Depends on the secondary school concerned, benandoli. Some of our local secondary schools do as you mentioned, some set using teacher assessments, some don't set at all in Year 7 and one I know of uses SATs to set for Maths.
