Sex Ed (Y6). Did you go in and view the DVDs and material??

I am a bit surprised how many parents allegedly did take up the school invitation to do so- to the point the lessons have been postponed a week!

Is it just me?? I completely trust the NC to deliver age appropriate sex ed to my DS in a sensible and acceptable manner.

I will add, though, I suppose my attitude stems from the fact that at my girls GS, back in the '70s, we had no END of sex ed! From the biology in Y7; relationship issues in Y8 and 9, contraception and 'how to apply' in Y10 etc etc. We almost groaned when once again the teacher started up on the sex ed!...there we no teenage pregnancies (to the best of my knowledge but who can say whether that was because we were so well educated or because we were sufficiently intelligent to a) want more from our lives than casually conceived pregnancies, or b) smart enough not to take risks)... Then in Australia in my 20s I encountered people my age, admittedly almost exclusively Catholic educated, who knew NOTHING! Never a word about it except that you'd go to hell!

No we didn't either!

I remember a hideous (to my memory) video shown in 1st year seniors of childbirth

(one girl actually fainted)

It was accompanied by much arm waving and if you're not good it could happen to YOU.

I would hope things have moved foward from the early eighties.

I can't imagine anything more toe curling than sitting in a classroom with other parents checking ernestly for elevated smut levels

erect penis ... tick
untrimmed muff... tick

I doubt a modern Y6 DVD would be THAT -um- graphic!! But I might be wrong

I did - because I wanted to know what DS1 had been told in case he wanted to follow anything up.

And yes, it was toe-curling for the five of us there.

Or am I being a bit childish??!

Should it be 'Snigger, snigger'?!

I sent a letter out recently to our parents and not one came in to look, but some did ask questions on the playground.
