Year 1 - Homework

Before I give the teacher some constructive feedback, I wanted to check if this is usual or not.

DDs homework usually consists of pages either printed off on a computer or maybe photocopied from a book, stuck into her homework book. No problem there, I appreciate it's a large class and it probably takes quite a while for the TA to stick the pages in everyone's book.

The problem is that these pages come with little or no instructions. Often it's obvious what's required, but sometimes (like this week), it's really unclear. I find myself scratching my head trying to work out what it's DD is supposed to be doing.

Is this standard for year 1 homework, or is it reasonable to expect some basic instructions?

We get the photocopied page. Which makes sens.e Not sure how else to do it. Usually there are some instructions, and DD can always explain it. Obviously her teacher goes over it with them at some point.

We usually get a photocopied page (no homework book to stick it in though). As it's aimed at 6yos I can generally muddle my way through what they are meant to be doing.

On the one occassion it was very unclear I just asked the teacher for clarification when I dropped DD off - after all she has a week to complete it so no time pressure.

It sounds like the photocopied pages are standard then.

They certainly don't go through it with them when it's handed out, that might help.

Mostly I can muddle through it to, but sometimes it's like there's a bit missing.
