Hi all, DD has had end of reception report and has been given a level 1c although her teacher was a bit cagey about telling us this.

Does this mean that she has reached all of the EYFS targets and is working beyond them across the board? Thanks all X

No it means the school and teacher have used the wrong assessment system needlessly as a child working beyond ELGs would score 9 on the profile (and could be working within anywhere from 1C to 2C ) no wonder the teacher was cagey I guess she's been asked to do something she knows is inappropriate.

So, it doesn't mean that scoring 9's across the board then becomes a 1c??

I think it means she is at least a 1c. I think 9=1c. But "9" is a Foundation stage assessment and "1c" is a KS1 assessment and they are different beasts!

She could be better that 1c, but they don't know cos they used the Foundation assessment system (cos she is in Foundation stage) and it doesn't go that far.

It means she is doing very nicely thankyou, anyhow.

Catherder thanks for that, its gonna cost me a fortune in fudge anyhow!!

No because 9s across the board do not equate to a 1C. The DFE clear states there is no direct correlation between profile points and NC levels an the National Assessment Authority wrote to all LAs and schools telling them the must not use them that way.

and I agree any child who scores 9 across the board is very very special.
