DD4 Wears 18-24 months size clothes , some things ages 2-3 she can wear if the sleaves are short or legs can be rolled up. Im struggeling to find tiny school clothes for her .She starts primary after the summer holidays.

What exactly (colours etc) do you need for her school uniform? It is possible to get small uniforms as nurseries attached to private schools often have uniforms.

Don't forget she has 12wks to grow and might fit in a 2/3 by then. A-line pinis are easy to make - do you have a sewing machine?

Pinafores/skirts here from 2/3 - also do special orders for other sizes.

These white blouses come up v.v.small, my average 5yr old needed an 8yr old's size, so it's worth getting the 3yr old to try.

john lewis do uniform in all sizes, from age 2 up, and they have the elastic to pull in for tiny waists.

My DS is tiny (he's 5 and just in age 2-3 trousers) and I found M&S clothes the best - they were from age 3. They had elasticated waists too and (unlike most of his trousers) adjusted small enough so they didn't fall down.

Can your dd wear polo shirts? The M&S age 3 ones fitted my ds fine last year, and are even a bit too small for him now.

My DS is also quite small.

He is just coming to the end of reception and has been in the same sized trousers all year

At least I have got my monies worth

I also found M&S to be the best and he wears aged 3 trousers which in Sept were rolled up round the waist but finally only in the last few weeks he can wear them "normally" iyswim...

oh little sweetie!

you can get generic white polo shirts and pinafores etc from various high st stores

is there a specific uniform she has to wear?

abgirl · 21/06/2010 13:15

Hi my DS was tiny when he started reception and this is another vote for M&S - the sizes come up quite small anyway so the three year old items were only a bit too big for him. I think we managed to get small plimsolls in Asda. There are some M&S outlet places around and about and they always seems to have plenty of 3 year old uniforms in them.

thanks everyone for the replies.
I bought some m&s and asda size 3 year stuff for her already , but its too big .Its unlikely that she will grow into it as dd4 has a growth disorder (she grows very very slowly , her bone age is years younger than it should be).
I do have a sewing machine , but im not good enough on it to make uniform ,or do major alterations on her clothes..
The school colours are black, and royal blue for jumpers/ fleeces with white shirts /polos.
I spoke to the headteacher about dd4 and asked if she could be exempt from uniform because of her size.... she`s insisting on it (stupid idea about not wanting dd4 to be seen as different , wtf? dd4 has SN , she is different - get over it head teacher!)
Looks like i will need to buy copious amounts of black and blue dye and try and change the colours of some suitably shaped toddler clothes. . . . most things out there are pink. Can dylon cover pink ok?

I'm glad to see this thread. DS starts reception in January and he is in 18-24 trousers and 2-3 tops. I figured that if I just couldn't find proper school type trousers they would tolerate him being in navy jogging bottoms until he had grown enough for the proper ones. He may even be in 2-3 bottoms by January but I won't hold my breath lol

Ixai just checked out your link - fantastic site! ive just emailed them a special order on uniform for size 18-24 months ! .

I love mumsnet!

Hope that works out OK Dylon is an option, but the problem is most cotton garments are sewn with polyester thread and the thread doesn't take the dye.

Could she wear black leggings (you could buy crops in a 2/3 and just pull in the waist) and boil wash a 2/3 polo top to see if it will shrink to fit?

drloves · 21/06/2010 16:44

thats a good idea about the leggings !
