OK, as I said, no experience of this as DD isn't at school yet. But good schools were one of the reasons we moved here and I think, on the whole, they are pretty good.
DISCLAIMER - this is going on what we've been told by other parents here in Fav (a couple of whom are primary school teachers so have a professional as well as parental take on it).
You have a choice of the schools in Faversham itself or applying to schools in the surrounding villages.
There are a few schools in town:
Ethelbert Road Infant School - excellent, apparently, but tiny. It's our closest one but after siblings most years only a couple of children are admitted.
Davington Primary School - heard very good things about this. Large (60 each year), mixed catchment area, excellent facilities for reception classrooms, they've ploughed the money into the teaching staff.
Bysing Wood Primary School - looks lovely to me, as I've visited the children's centre on site, but my childminder reports this is not the case.
St Mary of Charity CofE Primary School - pretty much universally derided among people I've spoken to; I've been advised to avoid at all costs. But a friend's children went here and she is very positive about it indeed. A new headmistress has started and my friend says some changes are afoot. So, we'll visit to take a look.
And here are some in the surrounding villages that I've heard about:
Boughton-under-Blean Methodist Primary School - friend's DD at preschool here; meant to be very good.
Graveney Primary School, Graveney - friend's children here; she's very pleased with it.
Hernhill CofE Primary School, Hernhill - ditto.
Luddenham Primary School, Luddenham - very academic, according to a pal.
Ospringe CofE Primary School, Ospringe - not sure.
Selling CofE Primary School, Selling - meant to be great.
Sheldwich Primary School, Sheldwich - ditto.
I'll be visiting some of these from September as we need to apply for DD, so can fill you in nearer the time, if you like.
