Discovered that my primary....

Is taking another 3-form entry this september, which will mean that there are 8 classes in the infants. It's not a problem as such, as the current Y3 (soon to be Y4) which my OLDER DS1 is in is only a 1-form entry, but in a couple of years when he goes up to secondary, the school will AGAIN have 1 more class than they have classrooms, and there is no more space to build any more classrooms (which they did build 2 over last year as 1 class was in a demountable). I'm concerned that for my younger son's last 2 years at the school, they will have no choice but to put at least 1 class in a demountable again. How would I go about finding out what the future plans for classroom accommodation are at the school? Especially as there is another 'large' yeargroup that would start in September 2011. (I have lots of friends with children that age, and the lack of pre-school places until 4+ is a good local indicator of year group size). And my DC's primary is the one that is always made to take the 'bulge' classes locally. Where could I get information on this?

Join the parent council (or whatever the school equivalent is), or get in touch with them and ask the question?

The primary I taught at had 3 temp classrooms in the infants and 4 in the juniors as they went from being 2-form entry to 3-form throughout. The temp classrooms had been there about 20 years! They were just as well resourced as the other classrooms and there were no problems with it. Why is it such a problem if there are temporary classrooms?

i've taught tin a mobile classroom for the last 8 years, it may not be very pretty from the outside but it is one of the nicest rooms in the school inside and does not affect the children's ;earning what so ever

if you want to know about possible building work speak to the governors, head and also good idea to join PTA - but from the little in do know about it all, unless the school becomes permanently over subscribed, the LEA will not fund extra classrooms to be built.

I wouldn't see a problem.

Dd2 starts school in september, she is one of 4 children starting , they are joining reception, class 1 and 2 into one class (spread over 2 class rooms), the whole of infants will only be 24 children .

TeamEdward, maybe you teach at dd's school .
