Anyone got a child chorister at Kings Cambridge?

I am at that stage of deciding which school might be best for my DS. Had a look at both St Johns and Kings and both are very nice but you just can't be sure of the pastoral care. Can anyone give me any idea how their child is doing. My DS is 8.

I haven't, although I'm sure someone on here will have. My brother was a choral scholar there until fairly recently and a friend used to be Assistant Matron. I have never heard anything bad about the pastoral care at either Kings or St John's - I imagine most boarding choir schools have it pretty well set up.

Thanks Bramshott, Really struggling with the boarding thing. Need a bit of reassurance.

He'll have to win a place. Is he a talented singer? The competition to get into the choir is quite steep, I think.

Although it is something of a musical hothouse, and the boys work hard, I understand that they are, on the whole, happy.

The rest of the school (non-boarding) is lovely. I know several children who attended it and were very happy.

Have you also looked into choristerships at your local Cathedral? Chorister training anywhere provides a good solid musicial education, and a lot of opportunities. Some cathedrals are boarding, but a few are not.
