Hi all
So that is my question really

DD starts reception in September,
She obviously need school uniform and PE kit

What else does she actually need?!

I'm guessing:
Backpack
Lunchbox
Pencil case: Stationary? pen, pencil, ruler?

Anything else?!

Thanks

Most schools ask that they don't take in their own stationery, at least in reception. It gets lost, the children borrow each others/argue and some schools prefer to use special triangular type pencils.

She won't need a backpack they all have bookbags in infants, often with the school name on.

Lunchbox yes if she is taking a packed lunch.

Ace thanks for that saved me some cash!!

Should I have heard from the school by now council have confirmed her place and heard nothing yet?

Really comfy, good quality shoes - she will put them on at 8.20 and won't take them off until 3pm. V different to pre school situ of being mostly barefoot, slippers or trainers.

I don't know. Mine are at an independent school and we got sent a letter inviting us to a new parents evening where we were given lists and told all the dos and don'ts. It was held in the June

Neice is at a local state primary but she was in the nursery attached to the school first. Think they did have an info evening. I think its still early days with regards to people accepting places and waiting lists. I guess you would be more likely to hear something after half term.

One useful item on our uniform list was a lunch apron, saved a whole load of washing but I guess you would have to ask the school if it was OK to send in something like that.

YouMightKnowMe · 26/05/2010 20:32

School uniform - 1 jumper, 3 polo shirts, 2 skirts/trousers/pinifores
PE kit & PE bag
Lunchbox
?Water bottle (some schools provide)

Some schools insist on plimsoles indoors...

YouMightKnowMe · 26/05/2010 20:33

we have just had a letter inviting us for the day. Another local school hasn't.

Ask the school. Or wait until sometime after half term, when they will tell you.

gillybean2 · 26/05/2010 20:34

The school should of sent you a list of what is required. Ask if you haven't had it.

Will probably include:
Uniform
PE kit (inc plimsoles not trainers)
School shoes (not trainers)
Cup/water bottle for class
If having packed lunch will need lunch box of some kind.
Bag (usually prefer a book bag with school logo on)
Sometimes they suggest an apron for art.

You won't be expected to provide stationary (pens/pencils/ruler etc) unless it's a private school.

it will depend on the school. At dd's school they have to change into 'indoor' shoes when they get there and then change into 'outdoor' shoes at playtime and lunchtime for being in the playground. Ours doesnt have a bookbag so she does need a backpack. She has a lunch bag for when she has a packed lunch and takes a sports cup of water in with her each day.
