Ds (PFB) is off on a 2 day/2 night residential trip tomorrow. Shouldn't I have been given a medical form to fill in?

Hold my hand please, he's not stayed away from home this long before. I know where he's going but I've not been given anything to fill in, a list of dangers activities so I can wrap him in cottonwool prepare him. He's asthmatic (do I give his teacher a spare inhaler), he also rolls off the bed alot, who's going to check he's brushed his teeth and changed his underpants? Do they not need emergency numbers? (panic) His teacher's heavily pregnant, what if..... (panics more)

He will be fine just relax and enjoy the peace

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:28

Ello! Have you had those babies yet?

They should have given me things to fill in right?

You should have definitely been given a form for his medical conditions and any other relevant info and also a contact sheet.
If you're concerned you're allowed to ask to see the risk assessment.

see my profile, Ethan and Erin are 16wks tomorrow.

Forms are for turning into paper aeroplanes are they not

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:31

I thought I should have signed something. (panic)

Congratulations. Is your house really mayhem now?

They are cute! Hope you are well Insanity.

Bits of paper have not made it home.

I think they should have done, yes. Possibly your ds hasn't brought them home?
Maybe you could write down what his inhaler regime is plus clear guidelines on when to increase?
My experience is that schools are well used to asthma and inhalers.
For the rest, I think you need to resign yourself to the fact that he may not wash/clean his teeth/change his clothes....but will not harm him! He will have fun!

Insanitybecomesme · 23/05/2010 22:34

total chaos, and this weekend has trounced it altogether, K and N had a joint bbq, water fight/party yesterday 20 children lots of water lots of mess.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:35

He's already said it's pointless taking 5 pairs of underpants (incase they get wet), 1 should be enough (bleugh), he has no intention to wash either. What do they do about bedtimes? (panic)

we are all well,

school should realise paperwork incomplete and hound you to rectify in the morning before they go.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:36

sounds like fun though. Are you OK?

He's kind of looking forward to it, he was really excited until I googled the place he was going to and saw a picture of a bible. The zipwire made up for it though

You should have filled in a form with medical info and emergency contact details. You should also have gone to a parents' meeting where they take you through the entire trip and give you packing advice, etc.

Don't worry about teeth brushing and underwear changing. Part of going on a residential is to learn to do things without you. They will all line up to brush their teeth though, so no need to worry about cavities.

I am shocked about lack of medical forms. Are you sure you didn't fill one out months ago?

Insanitybecomesme · 23/05/2010 22:40

sounds like aninteresting trip, kieran is of to cromford in a few weeks he cannot wait to go reckons he will get more peace there with 20 classmates than at home me thinks he is right

Tortoise · 23/05/2010 22:42

My 13 yr old recently went on a 4 day school residential. They said if medical forms weren't signed and returned they wouldn't be allowed to go.

DS1 proudly told me, when he got home, that he hadn't had a shower (or a poo!) all week!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:45

No, I've recieved nothing, a letter with a tear of strip asking for a deposit and dates to pay, another with a list of things they need. I am actually quite worried. I did ask, the teacher just muttered orientering and a camp fire. There's 2 teachers and 15 children (year 5 and 6).

I imagine space is a little tight insanity Cromford is really boring (sorry)

Hmm. I'll moan to her tomorrow. She does alot of camping trips with her church, I'd like info though.

That's not enough.

I am off on a residential trip next week with my students, and am also used to doing these things with Brownies and Guides.

The procedures are fairly identical - full medical forms, plus an actual meeting.

Behind what parents see are very detailed risk assessments.

Insanitybecomesme · 23/05/2010 22:51

its the caves and the cable car he is looking forward to and the disco(less keen on the 5miile canal walk).

we always attend a meeting before each trip where we cannot leave the hall unless we complete the forms that way we all know whats happenning.

space is not too bad but need a car we can all fit into.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 23/05/2010 22:53

You need a mini bus Insanity

I'm worried now. Very worried.
