Does anyone know these schools? We may be moving to the area and are trying to get a grip on school options.

I used to live in the catchment area but my DD didn't go there as we sent her to a faith school. But have lots of friends who send their DC there. But when we sold our house all the people looking round were interested in the school - thinking they could save private school fees etc by moving into the area.

It's reputated to be a very good school with good facilities. All middle class parents. It has three form entry so if you live near enough someone bound to leave if you are looking for a place for an older child.

Catchment area is north side of HGS - which is totally an area of expensive housing. Typical rent for a 3 bedroom (quite small) house would be £500 per week. These (3 bedroom) houses sell for around £600k-£700k.

If you want a reception place then best to live nearer than Ossulton Way although possible to get a place if in catchment area but slightly further away.

Does that help?

The only thing I know is that it's very popular and house prices are correspondingly high.

(as MumNWL said, in fact)

Thanks ladies, that's very helpful. Are there any other (non-faith) schools nearby that we should look at?

My dts go to the infants - it's a good school and the junior school is great.

Like any school it has problems/drawbacks eg there's 30 kids in each class ... and to be honest, while the teaching is good, a lot of the kids are tutored to get into private or highly selective secondaries.

The bright kids do very well, the average seem to coast along ... but it has been criticised for not doing enough for the less able children.

but on whole I am really pleased with it and think I was lucky my two got in as wouldn't have done faith school.

Highgate primary might be another option - it's a haringey school but often undersubscribed as area is one where most parents opt for private - would have been my second choice had they not got in to brooklands.

can anyone send me the catchment area map of brookland infant/primary?

We live in finchley church end (n3) and our distance to the school is about 0.48 miles. not sure our kid gets the chance to go to the school though..

Thanks.
