DD is due to start reception in September & I'm starting to think about researching uniform

DD is definitely not "girly-girly" so I need stuff that is durable. I don't mind paying a bit more for stuff that will last and still looks decent by the end of term!

We are talking

white blouse (worn with school tie)
grey skirt or pinafore
white socks or navy tights

(must also wear school jumper or cardigan, which is mostly navy)

where did you get this year's uniform from & how has it lasted?

DD is also very tall for her age, but slim for the "age" she fits, so I usually find Next stuff suits her shape (she is almost growing out of age 5-6 - at 4.4 )

Have found M&S good - but a little on the small side for the age. Tesco's pinafore dresses have lasted DD all year, but were quite big on her to start with (she is summer bday).

I have bought from Next - I like the shorts they do for girls, (why are there not more styles of shorts available for girls?), I didn't like the jersey stuff they do in trousers/pinafores, they bobble very quickly and the pinafore seemed a tad short on, my quite small for her age, dd.

Debenhams can be worth a try, especially for some quite good pinafores/shirt combos that are inexpensive.

I also buy m&s, quality is fine but not always keen on the styles, especially if it has flowery embroidery (dd isn't keen on the girly look).

Usualsuspect you are quite right, I mean Primark. Plus, my ds is the complete opposite in shape of the OPs dd. Everyone ignore all my posts!

BHS trousers have always done DS well, as have John Lewis.

Polo shirts were also good from BHS (& Asda weren't too bad).

We have a VERY old fasioned school uniform shop in town - kids HATE going in there, but it's jumpers last an eternity - notmally Charles Kirk brand I think.

Similar experience here. M & S for pinafores, dress, light cardis and socks but not polo shirts (shrink and have curly collars) or tights (no shaped feet). Agree can be a bit on the small side.

Sainsburies polo shirts were best.

John Lewis for tights, dress and proper shirt (more easy care and easier for dd to put on and off than polos).

Next for yet another dress.
