putting off entry to school due to refusal of places at selected schools

I have read all the recent posts regarding school appeals and they have been very helpful. Moved my daughter in September 2009 to the nursery attached to the school I would like her to attend. She has been refused a place in reception at that school and other choices. I have put in an appeal, but know the school is full and we are out of the catchment area, so I don't hold out much hope. She attends full time wraparound attached to the school and I have asked if they will be willing to keep her full time from September 2010 and I will apply again to the same school for a place in Year 1 in September 2011. They are looking into it, but I was wondering if anyone else had experience of this. Feel so guilty for moving her from a nursery she was quite happy at to this one, so I will try anything so as not to have to move her again in such a short period of time. Any help much appreciated.

Kismet I think you just need to be on the waiting list for your chosen school (and maybe a backup for year 1). Once the school year starts you will move rapidly up the waiting list (as other children take up places in other schools) and you will be playing a waiting game. Keep in touch with the school admissions and fingers crossed. Good luck!

you want them to keep her full time at a school where she should be in reception but in a nursery / care situation rather than in education - are you sure that is wise?

What if you don't get in in year 1?

The school in question has a large turnover of students, as they relocate or emigrate, Current reception classes have only 28 in the two classes; suppose I am hoping she will get a place during the forthcoming year. The wraparound service is classed as an educational provision and follows the early years curriculum, so she will be obtaining an education. Know it is not ideal and I am looking at other alternative schools, but the only ones with places are not ideal as they do not have full time before and after school provisions and this would cause difficulties.
