Hi, my daughter is due to start nursery class at a local primary school in September. And I just realised that the logistics of it all are going to be really hard because both my husband and I work hours that won't let us pick her up and drop her off and our companies aren't flexible. What do other working parents in similar situations do? Do childminders drop off or only pick up? Does any have any suggestions? I would really appreciate some advice as I am beginning to pull my hair out!
Thanks so much.

Childminder is one possibility.
Does the school offer before and/or after school club?

An after school club for an hour or so but definitely not one before school starts.

You can drop off at childminders before school, they will then do school run to and from school. You pick up when school is over. Ta-da!

Try speaking to local childminders now

When work is over I mean

That's why ds went to a childminder in the mornings.

Breakfast club at school and nirsery, and afternoon club after school

Some nurseries also do drop offs and pick ups with their before/after school care but its likely to be expensive - not much help, sorry. You could also think about finding someone to come to your home before you leave for work, take child to school and do the same in reverse after school.

Does either of you work part-time (eg 3 days/week)?

If so can you do an informal childcare swap perhaps with another working parent? She does Mondays, you do Tuesdays etc?

Or yes, after and before school club - is there one anywhere? The school is obliged to provide details of an offer of care locally (not the care itself necessarily).

Do you mean FS1 ie pre-school btw? As if so DD may not be old enough for some out-of-school care.

Otherwise childminder is good. What do you do at the moment?
