If your child was in a Foundation class with job share teachers and a full time nursery nurse would you rather see both teachers or 1 teacher and the nursery nurse ?

What happens at the schools your children go to ?

Thanks

I'd expect to see at least one of the teachers. Who did they field?

mumto2andnomore · 09/03/2010 12:39

Im one of the teachers, we both wanted to attend but have been told we must do one each with the nursery nurse, bit miffed !

You have a nursery nurse? Is that like a TA ?
Am assuming foundation is reception?

Sorry am a bid bewildered.

If I were a parent I would expect to see either of the teachers.. not sure where the nurse fits in TBH..

coppertop · 09/03/2010 12:51

I would expect to see either one teacher or both of them. I'd be surprised if the NN turned up tbh. At our school it's teachers only on Parents Evenings.

islandofsodor · 09/03/2010 12:55

I would expect to see one or both of the teachers. I would understand if both teachers could not be there due to possibly other commitments or not being able to fund the extra pay if it was a non working day for one of them.

I wouldnt; expect to see the nursery/nurse/TA at all to be honest. Wouldn't have thought it was part of their directed time.

mussyhillmum · 09/03/2010 12:55

We see both teachers (it's a job share) and the nursery nurse.

nickelbabe · 09/03/2010 12:57

i would expect to see either or both of the teachers.
i wouldn't expect ot see the nursery nurse unless she was there specifically to deal with my child's needs (eg SN)

MumNWLondon · 09/03/2010 13:19

Last year in reception DD had job share - we saw both teachers but not TA.

sarararararah · 09/03/2010 14:10

I job share in a FS unit (of 45 Reception children) - so there are 3 of us. Two of us work 3 days and one works 4 days. The parents see one of us, but not the TAs. Works absolutely fine - we just take notes and share anything significant in a post parents' eve meeting.

mumto2andnomore · 09/03/2010 15:05

Yes NN is like a TA but with more responsibilty. All sorted now, I am allowed to go (not my working day, not paid must be mad lol !) All 3 of us are doing it now, hope the parents aren't too intimidated ! I didn't think it would be part of a NN job and felt a bit pushed out

I would expect one teacher. If nursery nurse wanted to come I wouldn't object, but would expect her role to be kept to one on observational learning. I would of course prefer both teachers, but would be happy with one.

Last parents evening I arrived and ds's teacher was sat there with the Headmaster. I nearly peed myself.

Turns out teacher had had a gap before us and he'd popped in for a chat with her.

Not me

jazzandh · 11/03/2010 11:07

In my DS Kindergarten class they had two teachers. At the beginning of the year the children were divided into pastoral groups headed up by one of the teachers, that was the teacher that we then spoke to at parents evening.

choccyp1g · 11/03/2010 12:09

We've had three job-shares so far (DS is only in Y4) and IIRC both teachers have been there every time. Though ususally one of the teachers does most of the talking, and the other one -sits- -there- -looking- -downtrodden- chips in where appropriate.

choccyp1g · 11/03/2010 12:11

O FFS why do I waste my typing muscles trying to be amusing. But seriously, it usually seems very obvious which of the teachers considers themselves to be in charge, and it is generally the one that the parents would consider the "better" teacher.

dinkystinky · 11/03/2010 12:12

DS1's nursery teachers are jobsharers - we saw one with the full time nursery TA when we went to parents evening.

MadLenny · 11/03/2010 17:50

I'm a nursery teacher in Scotland (job share) and we have a full time NN. We all attend parent's evenings as it is factored into our non contact hours. Have previously seen parents together but next time are trying it seeing only our keyworker groups - we'll see how that works.(most of our parents are probably not that sure which of us are the teachers anyway as they tend to refer to all of us in that way) Our NNs are expected to do WAY more than your average TA and these include - paperwork, meeting with parents and writing reports.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/03/2010 17:52

I have always seen both teachers if it is a job share.
