heroes dressing up day - any ideas?

My dd is in reception & in a few weeks the school is having a fancy dress day to raise money for Help for Heroes charity. The children are meant to dress up as heroes but while I have lots of ideas for boys I can't really think of anything for a girl other than a nurses costume. Any ideas?

Fire fighter, Elastigirl from the Incredibles, Marie Curie, Mother Theresa or anything that you'd dress a boy up as; soldier, Police Officer, lifeguard etc.

I love some of these ideas, but they always make me laugh - I would not have the first idea of where to start to make a Florence Nightingale outfit!! And Ds2 has got a 'great fire of london day' in a couple of weeks - Samuel Pepys wig anyone??

you can make a very effective Pepys / judge wig out of loo rolls, you know...

Thanks for the ideas. Will have to have a talk to dd about it, she's not that keen on dressing up anyway, will happily do it when she's at home but if people can see her it's a different story. Am sure she won't want to go in a "boys" costume, she's very sexist & def doesn't get it from me!

One DD of mine went as Rosa Parks to a similar event, despite bearing no physical resemblance. Another went as Mary Poppins....
