Which encylopaedia?

I think it would be nice to have a paper encylcopaedia in the house... anyone still have one and if so what would you recommend for a 9 year old (to last a few years)

We got ds (8) the "WOW! Visual Encyclopedia of Everything" for Christmas and he has been reading it ever since.

About once a day he comes out with another interesting fact - it was something about the way Egyptians composed paintings this morning!

Another vote for the Usborne Internet Linked one! My DD loves hers and uses the internet links for school projects and general curiosity all the time.

The Pick Me Up one in the WOW link is good as well. It's a bit more interesting facts but has things like a map of the world with the countries the size of population instead of land mass.

We had Britannica as children - was probably a Daily Mail offer

My parents still have it proudly on display at theirs. I want it. All 12 books of it.
