DS1, Y6, has asked for these books. He has read all the Alex Rider books (Anthony Horowitz) and enjoyed them but not say Artemis Fowl.

Are they from the same fold?!

DS 14 loves them and started reading (well he listen to the story tape, although he has read them all as books since) about yr6, but he says they're more Aretemis Fowl than Alex Rider.

I would say he likes both Alex Rider and Artemis Fowl equally.

They are great; he'll love 'em. They are rather more tongue in cheek than Alex Rider, the author doesn't take himself too seriously, but they're great fun.

When did he read Artemis Fowl? I think that does generally require a little more maturity than Alex Rider. He may appreciate them if he tries again in a year's time.

My ds really liked them - he is a bit younger and took a while to read them but they were good and well written enough to keep him interested.

plus there was a world book day cut down version last year which if you can find is a good taster - I read that one and it is fun fast paced adventure story

My ds' favourite is Percy Jackson though - and says "they are sort of quite like"

Yes, I agree missiemouse, Percy Jackson is great for this age group.

We're off to see the new film this afternoon.

Hey Roisin - hope you enjoyed it!

We're off tomorrow - I'm so pleased at last a film where he has read the book first!
