school security -am I being picky?

Okay - so I've already had a run in with the head in September about my feelings towards their slack (I didn't use that word) security but last Friday something happened that made me seethe with annoyance.
I had to go pick up the kids at the end of lunch time for a personal reason and the teachers told me to go to the foyer and the kids would be brought to me there.
When I got to the door buzzer, I was about to press it when two musicians came out and held open the door for me. I almost said "it's okay, I'll buzz" but thought I'd see if anyone said anything once I got in. However, the secretary wasn't at the window. All interior doors were open leading into the main school and there were various sole children wandering backwards and forwards via the foyer. I waited for about 10 mins until finally a member of staff came. During the wait, a bloke who I didn't recognise buzzed as well and I opened the door and let him in (I told him that it wasn't great for security to be able to just let ourselves in). He grunted and walked off somewhere.
Literally, I could have been anyone, grabbed one of the andering children and left and nobody would have noticed.
Anyone think I'm over reacting? Won't be telling the head at thsi point - she doesn't even say hello to me and puts her head down as she doesn't like the fact I've challenged her security decisions in the past.

Our school seems quite secure, you have to wait to be let in but I have never been there when someone else has come out so cant comment on that. But I do think you need to raise this with the school either by letter or in person. Maybe you could raise it with the receptionist, that people were holding open doors etc. I think you are right not to be happy as you have seen a breach twice in as many weeks. Good luck and keep us posted

Firstly why didn't you buzz anyway to attract someone and then why did you open the door for someone you didn't recognise when you knew this was another breech of security?

I think you're over-reacting

mrz - I thought the secretary was at the window as she normally is so let them hold open the door for me. I only realised she wasn't there when I was in.

The guy at the door looked at me quizzically when I tried to ignore the buzzer and then, although I didn't recognise him as a parent, I did recognise him from the town (I know that sounds really thick as he could still be a mass murderer!).

No it doesn't sound thick just human - you felt awkward ignoring him so you let him in just as the musicians let you in honestly it's a security nightmare for everyone as all it takes is the secretary to pop to the loo and be away from her post for a few moments. I'm sure the school would appreciate you telling them that someone let you in so they can try to avoid it happening in future but I don't think you can blame the school for breech of security when you were responsible yourself for one occasion.
