Hi

Now I know school is the best place for this, however bear with me please.........

Our son (age 8) who started Y3 last September was given some tests right at the beginning of the year which we werent told about and that they didnt have any obvious preparation for - this is all fine, he just mentioned it in a matter of fact way after school one day

Now we have just been chatting to his teacher and they were IP's or PIP's or something, she certainly didnt call them SATS and mentioned that hed done well

They were in maths and english and he scored 75 in each

Id love to now what this means, she just said it was a good score and wouldnt really say much more

I cant find IP's or PIP's on Google, the teacher said it was an externally done tests and they took ages to get the scores back

Id be grateful if anyone can tell me what these tests are and what relevance if any his score really has

Thanks in advance

info on PIPs. Basically it looks at underlying ability , such as reasoning, rather than acquired skill so identifying potential. Think they are marked out of 120 iirc

No but dc have been at a school doing them since year 2 - they seem to alternate cats and pips each year.
