zapostrophe I completely agree with you. The saddest thing in all of this rambling thread is the OP has chosen to completely ignore all the good advice that she has received. If the OP was more receptive she could tap into the wealth of knowledge that is MN and really get her project going. Instead she seems to think that we should be supporting her placard waving which after 8 years has achieved nothing.

It does sound as if this school doesn't have the type of parents who could determine exactly what and how to achive thier goal. (hence posting for advice here)

But I'm wondering if it all has to come from the parents. Wouldn't the head teacher, who presumably has an understanding of the LEA and school funding be the best person to direct this campaign though? And if sho what is he/she doing about it?

LynetteScavo · 14/01/2010 21:13

You are quite right, MollieO...sadly the OP isn't listening.

It's as if she wants us all to say "Oh, yes how terrible, you must have a new school" And sugest some slogans to paint on placards for the next protest outside the Council ofices.

MollieO · 14/01/2010 22:06

Peggy the Ofsted report commented on the absences of senior management (as well as extended holidays of pupils during term time). Seems as if there is no leadership either from the head of the school or the PTA, but the OP has chosen not to comment on that. It must be very hard to do anything if the leadership from the head is non-existent.

zapostrophe from what I've read they have been protesting for 8 years. You'd think by now they'd have worked out that they needed to find an alternative way of getting what they want. As I said before I think leadership from the head is sadly absent and that will mean huge difficulty for even the most pro-active PTA (which this one isn't).

We are in one of the most deprived areas in coventry, with a very high level of unemployment.

I gather from posters in well off parts of cities where majority of parents are proactive and can easily get projects up and running with funding in weeks.

We are merely a tiny group of parents, who are asking for the LEA to rebuild our school. Not because we are spoilt children but we want issues of neglect which have been going on for years to be addressed.

The schools mgt team and governors have been complaining to LEA for 8 years, parents have individually wrote letters of complaint/ concern which have been ignored.

Lynette/Mollieo realistically fundraising any amount near what we need is impossible for us in this town.

To get the parents to just attend meetings/protest we are canvassing and door knocking. To get then to give money just imagine

So pls dont attack us for trying something to help our children out of the horrid state their in. If we could leave we would but there is a shortage of spaces in schools in the area. This is the only school in the catchment area.

So pls give advice that is realistic for us Thanks

Hi to my fellow posters,I have not responded
for some reasons, but most importantly, it is very easy to get involved in nonsencical arguments, however as there were many constructive sugeestions made, but with this in mind ,that when certain points are made it is very important- how you make it,if it comes across as vain and arrogant, then it is only natural that this would disable anyone from follwing up on the advice, be it beneficial.
So thank you to zapostrophe for your kind but firm advise, after reading ur suggestion,I and a few others visited the site and will continue to, until the help we need,- achieve. WE had come on this thread hoping to find the correct guidance,as we are in our infant stages and hope to maximise the full potential of everyone`s expertise and experience.we did not say that fundraising is not an option, but where we stand it is a little more difficult---almost impossible.
But many thanks to you and pls continue to support us.
