Why does the school need rebuilding, is is falling apart or bursting at the seams or both? Why have the council said no? What information have you managed to get from them? They will have a budget for replacing school buildings but these have probably been severely curtailed. Do you know if your school is even in line for rebuilding at some point in the future? Which schools are being built in your area - what are their needs?

Hi the school is very old,59 yrs old,the school has been deprived and ignored for many years, simply a humble community who is now fed up,the classrooms are too small and the coucil proposes huts that are supposedly temporily to accomadate the extra 90 chidren every year on top of a waiting list, the building has been flooded because of old flushing system, the nursery has no hot water, damp ,mould in the toilets...ect,ect,ect...the list just goes on.
we have a video clip out on youtube, john gulson primary school parent action group, pls take alook...any suggestions welcome.

This is the only third world school in england, a real must see!!

The school has been neglected for years, it is not fit for purpose and is overcrowded with lessons being held in corridors and store rooms.

There is a very basic vid on www.youtube.com 'john gulson parent action group'.

The council feel these conditions are just maintenance and can be easily refurbed.

My concern is they are considering a facial when reconstructive surgery is required!!!

Inaiz and sammy - it sounds like the school definately needs to be rebuilt etc. I have no idea how you should go about getting it sorted though.
I doubt it is the only school in the uk in a such a poor state of repair though to be honest.
59 years old is actually quite young for a school - they do need to be maintained though and this one obviously hasnt!

Good luck!

The council propose to add temporary buildings, which will actually be left on the playground for 30 YEARS!!! At least taking up already limited playing space.

They need to increase the number of children due to a baby boom in the city!! So the school is to go from a 2.5 class entry to a 3 class entry. (2.5FE to 3FE)15 more children per year.

The school already has 3 classes per year and the classrooms are so tiny it does not accomodate the present numbers. The toilet facilities are inadequate for the number of children using them!!! Hence, they STINK!!!

WE REALLY WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO CAN SUGGEST A WAY FORWARD!!!!!

Thanks

Lots and lots of schools in this country are in a poor state of repair and are overcrowded

My suggested way forward - a petition, get as many people to sign it as possible (local people I suggest)
Write to your mp every week until something is done
Please dont post on Mumsnet using CAPITALS it appears as if you are shouting - which is rude!
