Did you know that you can still buy Ladybird Key Words books Peter and Jane?

I have just realised that you can. They were good in the day.

Yes, I did. My 7y DD learnt to read with them when she was in Reception - 3 years ago. DD really enjoyed them and they did actually suit her way of learning. She was reading very quickly with thm

They actually replaced them the year after - although still have some Ladybird Key Word books, as well as various other phonic and non-phonic scheme books.

Yes - I used these over the summer - DD had brought home 2 books a week from school but reading had not really progressed. Over the summer (ie after reception) started at beginning of Peter and Jane (I had some my parents kept) and we got up to level 6. They are small - I kept it it my handbag, we did a page here and there. Because of the way they introduce the new words they gave DD a lot of confidence that she would be able to read the stories. By level 6 there were too many words and she got bored.
