Feel rather sorry for the teachers at DC's school who've just told to expect OFSTED next week

The last inspection at the end of June resulted in the school going into Special Measures, so the 'threat' of OFsted returning within 6 months has been hanging over them all ever since. I think by this stage in the term they were expecting it to be the beginning of next term now.

Everybody - staff and pupils - have worked extremely hard this term. They're still properly working in class this week, and had loads of fun stuff lined up for next week. Now that Ofsted are coming the parties and cinema trip have been rescheduled, thankfully to later in the week.

I know the kids will still have their fun, but the poor teachers must be beside themselves.

They interviewed children in yrs 2, 4 and 6 in our school to find out about the Every Child Matters areas.

I agree with Edam - we were really quizzed over safeguarding, and apparently the fact that our SENCO had not attended the appropriate recent training course was one of the reasons we were not graded "good" overall.

Make sure all your paperwork and training is up to date!

Thanks for reminding me, I've got safeguarding training at ds's school on Tues (after a job interview - eek - it's going to be a very odd day).

The current rumour is that one school around here failed as the Inspectors ( who were expected) weren't asked for their identity badges by the school secretary when they arrived, so the school was failed on "safeguarding" grounds. Soemone please tell me what that has to do with the standard of education offered?

Safe guarding and the connections the school has with the local community seem to be the main areas they are looking for under the new guidance.

Oh and if your Raise on line/ value added data is good you will be fine.

Thought so!! Our school is due one any day and I have suddently had to show them my CRB again as they couldn't find records on file. And there is suddenly an "us and the local community" display!

Hoorah! Progress in all 5 Key areas since going in to Special Measures is satisfactory.

Hope our teachers get to relax over Christmas.
