PARENTS! Teachers are not all like this...

I know many of you have been upset by Insider 333's comments. Please do not think that all teachers have the same views. Most of us teach because we want to, love (most parts of) the job and care for your children. It is possible that Insider is not actually a teacher but is rather a person who had a very negative experience at school which is reflected in the attitude to education displayed. Pay no heed to Insider, most teachers you child will encounter will be hardworking, caring and interested in helping your child succeed.

????

hocuspontas · 04/12/2009 16:11

I don't think the poster is a teacher. All her posts say 'I'm a teacher' which sounds a bit weird.

If she/he IS teaching I hope it's not at my dds' schools! It sounds like someone who is very unhappy in their job.

Hullygully · 04/12/2009 16:12

Link?

cornsilkwearscorsets · 04/12/2009 16:16

I have seen only one post which I thought was fine.

JaneiteMightBite · 04/12/2009 16:22

I reported her yesterday but MN towers think she's genuine at the mo. I don't believe for a second that she is a teacher.

LynetteScavo · 04/12/2009 16:24

WhatAFuss...haven't read her any of insiders comments...but most parents do know teachers are hardworking and love their job.
and I quite oftern hear parents admiting it's not a job they could do!

MadameDefarge · 04/12/2009 16:54

That's all fine, but I think it is very poor to start a thread about a poster on another thread. Smacks of bullying to me.

Hullygully · 04/12/2009 16:56

I just read one of her posts on the homo teacher thread. Nutter and deffo not a teacher.

cornsilkwearscorsets · 04/12/2009 22:46

I've changed my mind after reading a comment on the dyslexia thread. Deranged.

trickerg · 05/12/2009 00:47

And s/he calls maths/numeracy 'arithmetic'. Give away, I reckon. How long ago did anyone use the word 'arithmetic'?!

Insider333 is not teaching at the moment. S/he may have been one some time ago. (Particularly as she has such unkind things to say about young female teachers.)

Tizzyjacko · 05/12/2009 11:23

This was the comment that wound me up

"Sadly, the majority of state run schools are holding pens. Remember the saying: "Those that can, do, those that can't, teach." and those that can't teach, become headteachers. Teaching is a fall back option for people who can't make a living doing what they would like to do."

and I'm not a teacher , just a huge admirer of the dedicated professionals who have been teaching my kids over the last 14 years

MollieO · 05/12/2009 12:30

She has posted some odd comments on a thread I started. As a parent I doubt that she is a teacher. If she is a teacher then fortunately we don't have any like her at ds's school.

MadameDefarge · 05/12/2009 12:31

Ah, well, happy to climb down from my high horse if 'tis a crazy old troll.

gorionine · 05/12/2009 12:33

snap Tizzyjacko, I have great admiration for them too. I think teaching is a job where you have to give a lot but do not get much appreciation at all.

FreeGeorgeJackson · 05/12/2009 12:40

i think what she says is pretty true tbh

FreeGeorgeJackson · 05/12/2009 12:42

deffo too young to label dyslexia at 5 fgs

LynetteScavo · 05/12/2009 19:50

This isn't a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a poster.

Who has a fondness for stating "I am a teacher."

OooohWhatAFuss · 08/12/2009 15:38

Sorry MadameDefarge, didn't mean to sound like a bully, just a number of posts which really wound me up and wanted to put forward the view of a real, sane teacher! Have clearly got too much time on my hands though, sitting around reading all these threads, so had better go and put a wash on

I'm a physics student and unfortunately teaching is seen as a plan-b. I remember telling a fellow student that I had been considering teaching and I was laughed at and asked why if I was talented would I want to do that. If I don't get a first or an upper-second then teaching will be my only option.

paddyclamp · 09/12/2009 21:40

well i got a 2:1 in maths and i'm a teacher..at a high school with a 6th form..really pisses me off when people think clever ppl don't go into teaching...sure i might have made more money if i'd gone into accountancy etc..but job satisfaction outways anything i think

Hulababy · 09/12/2009 21:53

LB29 - a 2:1 is expected for most teaching qualifications and for most teaching placements.

No one should ever go into teaching as a plan b. You need to be dedicated and committed to the job in order to get through it, especially the first year or so.

Fortunately, the vast majority of teachers are good, decent and hardworking people who have the children, their pupils, as their work priority and want the best for those children.

As with ever job there is a significant minority who tar the reputation - and that is what the media, and then the general public, pick up on.
