This is our new festive thread ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
golgi · 09/02/2010 21:52

I'm counting down too.

Also have a spot on my chin.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the boys over half term yet, am hoping for a bit of snow because that keeps them busy!

NoahAndTheWhale · 09/02/2010 22:50

DH has a couple of days off at the beginning of half term.

Then he is going off to Scotland for four days (work but he still won't be here at all...) Am hoping children buck the usual trend of holidays and have a bit of a lie in.

paisleyleaf · 10/02/2010 19:41

DD's only got tomorrow then they've got an inset day before half term. I think she can't wait - she's actually been angling after having a sickie for the last couple of days.
I'm hoping for some lie-ins too. I've been working weekends a lot recently, so been getting up about 6.45 everyday for ages now. Or at lest a duvet morning with DVD.
We may go and visit the in-laws. But other than that - no big plans. I'd like to decorate a bit indoors, but half term might well not be the best time to get into that.

golgi · 11/02/2010 22:10

One more day to go.....

Acinonyx · 11/02/2010 22:25

Heaven help us - we are planning to take dd to Legoland during half term. She's obsessed with it - I only hope she will not be disappointed. A boy at school told her today that there are no lego ducks there (how I wish I could find out exactly how such a conversation came about...). So she is a bit prepared.

NoahAndTheWhale · 12/02/2010 12:54

Legoland is great . There are some lego animals there - can't remember any ducks but there might have been.

All done now with small girl, who has been getting a little over-emotional at small things in the past few days.

ihearttc · 12/02/2010 13:33

Acinonyx-Legoland is fantastic...and Im pretty sure there are some lego ducks on the boat ride-there is every other sort of animal there so I should think there are!

Only a couple of hours till I can go and pick DS up for half term and I can't wait...will belovely to spend some proper time with him without him being tired and grumpy after school. His teacher is still off sick after her operation but DS has now decided that the supply teacher is lovely and he'd really like her to stay...and the cause of all this admiration for said supply teacher is the fact that she said "bum" the other day in class whilst talking about food and what it does lol!! Half the mums were moaning about it and saying she shouldn't have said that but I actually thought it was rather good and shows them that she has got a sense of humour...she's also given them funny names to remember them all with which is also nice!

We're planning on going to London next week to go on the Eye and DS is very excited about it...on the other hand Im bricking it cause don't do heights!

NoahAndTheWhale · 12/02/2010 16:31

Is Legoland open during this half term? I have the feeling it doesn't open again until March (but hope I am wrong).

Acinonyx · 12/02/2010 17:44

Oh -oh. Indeed you are right. Just broke the news to dd (all dh's fault of course ).

I flatly refuse to go on the Eye - can't do hieghts.

golgi · 12/02/2010 21:19

It's here at last! I have been looking forward to half term. Don't have any plans yet, but the house is a mess as I only do housework in the holidays!

NoahAndTheWhale · 14/02/2010 15:50

I am already feeling the happiness of not having to worry about clean uniforms, making packed lunch or thinking about what should/shouldn't be in book bags.

Already children have hopefully adjusted to half term waking as there was 8:25 and 8:50 waking this morning

roundabout1 · 14/02/2010 17:36

I was just thinking how nice it was not to be sorting out uniforms etc!
Noah - lucky you, my dd has gone from needing to be woken up at 7.30 am every day last week to waking me up at 6.30 the last 2 mornings - typical!

NoahAndTheWhale · 14/02/2010 18:49

Mine do often do that sort of thing in holidays and weekends so am hoping I won't be woken at 6 tomorrow morning or something equally horrible.

golgi · 14/02/2010 22:39

Noah - I have already enjoyed not ironing this evening.
roundabout - smaller boy woke at 6.45 on Saturday which was annoying, as he's usually 7.30 too.

Acinonyx · 15/02/2010 09:41

In some ways I find the holidays more taxing and more complicated. The days that I work now require 2 packed meals - lunch and dinner as opposed to just dinner. And we have dress options instead of the uniform.

Nice to have a break from the school run though - I drive to CM in the morning and dh picks up.

moodlum · 17/02/2010 19:43

Hello ladies

Haven't had a chance to read the thread, but I am back having lost you all.

We are relishing not having school until about 3pm by which stage I'm wondering if I can find some exhausting activity to finish them off (not literally you understand ) until bedtime.

Will be back when I have caught up. And poured myself a drink.

golgi · 17/02/2010 21:52

I've discovered that Boy does not have enough clothes.
As he usually wears uniform, I haven't bought so many other things - he's had a bit of a growth spurt and trousers are flapping around ankles! It doesn't help that he gets everything dirty as soon as I put it on.

We had dentist fun this afternoon. Usual thing - dentist in open mouthed horror at the very thought of a five year old who still sucks their thumb. He usually only does it at night, I asked him if he sucks it at school and he said "only if I'm sure that nobody is watching"!

Acinonyx · 18/02/2010 09:47

Dd sucks her thumb so much she has a flap of skin hanging from her top lip. Every now and againit comes off and starts over again. Lovely! There is absolutely no hope of dd opening her mouth for a dentist. We just keep brushing and crossing our fingers.

Found dd only has 2 pairs of trousers that still fit.

NoahAndTheWhale · 18/02/2010 23:36

I have two firm thumb suckers aged 6 and 4. DS (6) sucks it at night and claims to have only fond so once in reception. And not at all in year 1. Am not so sure about what DD does.

Dentist did talk to DS about it and now the teeth are coming out I fo wonder if I should try and help him stop. Probably won't though.

Children mostly doing pleasant morning waking which is good.

treedelivery · 20/02/2010 18:52

Hello everyone!! Off to read thrad and start a thread about walking to school. Hope half term is a joyful time for you all.

I go back to work Monday, I won't see dd1&2 from 6pm Sunday to 3.15pm Tuesday [for dd2]. All so I can do one shift. Nice. It's going to really affect her.

Computer now in lounge [cardinal sin but it has to happen so i can mn!] so I', back. Yay!

golgi · 20/02/2010 19:07

Welcome back Tree. Hope shifts aren't too much disruption for you all.

Half term nearly over, am going to have to think about ironing this time tomorrow.

Aranea · 20/02/2010 20:12

I hope you enjoy your return to work tree, and that your girls (and you) aren't too thrown by it.

NoahAndTheWhale · 21/02/2010 20:41

Have ironed. And made a packed lunch.

moodlum · 21/02/2010 22:37

Fingers crossed Tree - hope it goes as smoothly as it can. First day back after mat leave is always a tricky mix of emotions, let alone the logistics.

Ironing done. Various pieces of uniform collated in one place - not done . And DD is going in in her Rainbows outfit, so that adds novelty/excitement to the morning set up.

Arse, its twenty to eleven. Where do sunday nights go?

NoahAndTheWhale · 21/02/2010 22:41

Oh yes it's Thinking Day tomorrow isn't it? I wonder if there will be Rainbows and Brownies at school?
