Does your PTA put on a Panto for the children?

Two of my friends (who live 200+ miles away) are in PTA's where the PTA write, act in and produce a panto every year for the children to watch.

I have never ever heard of this in my neck of the woods - is it normal practice?

We pay for some trained professionals (a theatre company) to come and put on a panto in the school.

The thought of our PTA putting on a show themselves makes my blood run cold. I feel I do enough without making myself look like even more of a prat .

Same here

Surely it can't be a phenomenom in just 2 schools, can it?

The poor children. Don't they suffer enough without being "entertained" by deluded parents making prats of themselves in a vain attempt to be down with the kids?
If this is a trend it is one I would wish strongly to discourage.

we pay for the coach to take the kids to the panto - couldn't face appearing in one

Your freinds are having you on, TillyMint. surely the PTA pay for professionals to come in. (As far as I knw that's quite normal)

There is no way I would be on any PTA commitee where I might be roped into acting infront of a load of kids.

Errrrrr, no.....

Jedward · 15/11/2009 19:58

we buy one in

bigTillyMint · 16/11/2009 15:08

I am afraid they aren't having me on - one of my friends wrote and directed one of these panto's and I have seen a video of one of the other friend's ones (had to be there, I think!)

Maybe it's just a Wagsville thing?

My Dad was in the PTA and used to do this.

I suppose it depends on the people who are involved and whether they wish to do it.

I loved it when I was little.

HuwEdwards · 16/11/2009 16:10

No.

bigTillyMint · 16/11/2009 20:34

So it's just these two primary schools with a wierd PTA fetish in the whole country?
