Dd does it at school, but not in london, she started at 5 and loves it.

This is a real shame, as I know someone who is desperate for work at the moment teaching cello around High Wycombe. Kentish Town's probably a bit too far for her.

Hi there
Is the cello teacher in Wycombe still looking for work? I am considering starting to learn, and it would be great to have a chat with her.

Thanks

DS1 learns cello at Royal Academy (Marylebone) on Sats - he started at 5. They have a course called First Strings Experience and it's absolutely brilliant - they learn the string instrument they've chosen, have orchestra, musical games/rhythm work/singing and DS1 is now in a chamber group. Brilliant because they learn to play as an ensemble from the word go and their sight-reading's pretty good already. DS2 starts next Sept (he'll be 5 then). If they're full and you're interested, go on their waiting list which is what we did with DS1 and he got in. It's on their main website under primary academy.

thanks trl. i couldn't find a cello teacher and have since i first posted started both my 5 yr old DD and 4 yr old DS on violin as i found a teacher who would come to the house. seems to be going well so far. they are doing the suzuki method, which i enjoy. the royal academy course does sound lovely too tho and i will investigate.

If you still want to switch to cello, go to Dots Music in Camden Town and ask them. They have a list of music teachers and know most of the local ones.
