Can anyone tell me why my 10 yr old DS2 has teletubbies as one of his spelling words?

It's not a real word.

His teacher also said it had a hyphon in it so tele-tubbies.

His other words are tele words so it does fit in but what is the point, he won't be likely to use it!

For goodness sake! The teacher obviously thought she'd raise a smile from the children when they were learning y-ies, probably hoping that they'd remember the rule better, as a type of mnemonic.

Lighten up.

Yes, odd choice of word, but...tele is a prefix, tubbies is plural of tubby, therefore teaches two y5 spelling patterns, plus hyphens! It's as likely to help him remember the rules as any other word in a spelling list.
