I work as a 1-1 support in a school and I feel that 1 I am 1st of all ready for a different challenge and second I know I can do this.
I often find myself looking at a lesson and feeling I wouldn't do it this way or I would do this like that ect for example whilst doing news in a mixed infant class the teacher sends the reception out and she hears the y1-2 in all 16 children, in with her is me as a 1-1 and a student. She listens to all 16 news pieces and this very kinaesthetic class is board after about 8. By the time the news is done this only leaves about 25 mins to write their news. Which should be ok but then we go over key words and how to start the news ect which leaves only 10 min to write the news in that time the year 1s and some year 2 struggle writing Monday September _ and haven't even started on their news by the time break time comes.
If I had done their news I would have spilt into 2 groups and gone through the news, I would then get them to write the date as anumber to save time ie4-09-09 I would then give the year 1s and any struggling year 2s (they are avery bright group) word mats with key words if they are unsure I would also try to get them to sound out as much as possible and do as much as they can without support.
My only real consurn is that I am dyslexic and this only really affects my spelling and ST memory
I am looking to do 1st a 2 year Foundation Degree in Learning support from there I can complete the degree in a year and then I can do a PGCE, I want to specialise in early years, Have I got a hope?
I know I can become a teacher this way and still work for 2 of the 4 years.
Would I (being dyslexic )servive the PGCE course
