DS1 1st day today-well afternoon. He was really excited all morning, but as we got into the classroom he cuddled in, cried and didn't want to stay. I feel awful!

Counting down till I can go and pick him up, but also quite nervous as I so hope he liked it.. I know its only the 1st day, but I just want him to be happy there.

Fingers crossed. 1 hr and 5 mins to go.

I didn't think I would feel as worried as I do. DS1 starts tomorrow. I am all churned up just thinking about it. And I thought I would be all blase. He is really looking forward to it. I am being a wuss! Like someone else said though - it is the worry that he won't 'fit in'. All my school worries back to haunt me!

Mine doesn't want to go again tomorrow as they didn't play out today.

I was making tea and he asked for a frozen pea. I said he had to go to school tomorrow if he had one. "Okay."

elibean, I think what you say is very true. While I had no 'big' issues at primary school, I remember vividly moments of so-called friends suddenly turning their back on me and saying I couldn't play with them etc. I still remember crying and feeling just yukky about it. I was quite sensitive and easily hurt emotionally, now I realise, and I was always the one 'begging' the 'friend' to like me again . I was much, much happier in secondary school and beyond. So yes, I think I am projecting my memories of such unpleasant incidents onto DD and feeling the same feelings on her behalf...before anything's even happened.

For now, she is loving school, for which I am happy and I just hope and pray it continues...

fabulousbg, what a stressy morning!! Glad it turned out ok, though, and that a pea did the trick

Am I the only one who can't WAIT for their ds to start school this week???

dizzyday07 · 08/09/2009 00:15

My DD starts Reception today (Tues) and like you underpaidandoverworked I can't wait

We moved house at the end of June so there wasn't any time for her to go to preschool here so she's been climbing the walls for 10 weeks!!

sleepyprincess, give yourself a big hug every time you take dd in. You probably need it more than her

I was delighted to take my Y1 dd in today for her first day back, and so was she - we were both well ready

Not quite so easy for dd2 and pre-school, I managed to leave her for 40 tearful minutes (her, not me, I went shopping feeling a mixture of lost and exhilarated ) but she seems to love it when I'm there, which bodes well. Think it'll take a few days, no more.
