Hi, Just curious - what activity raised the most money/which was your biggest success?

Also, what was the most hysterical money raiser?

Copper Miles, competition between classes who could raise the most money. The kids had to bring coppers in and the winners got a take-away pizza, the losers had to pay a forfeit (clean windows, I think it was). The teachers got very very competitive about it! They got something like 800 quid out of that one.

School fete rarely makes much more than a 1000 quid, discos typically about 150, I think.

Our summer fare does about 7 8k, the big get money spinner being the Silent Auction.

We get local shops and businesses to donate - a pedicure, theatre tickets, box at footbal, a braceletl etc then people write down what they wil pay. Each sheet has the face value of the prize and many of the prizes go for pretty much the actual value as people are happy to pay it to the school. This year the silent auction alone raised over £3.5k

Quiz nights £100 (name your price) per table, raffle, sell drinks at it, punters bring own food.

School fete is biggest - 6k

christmas Bazaar - 3k

Quiz night £1k

Regular cake sales raise about £100 a pop.

Crumbs. We reckon we do well if we make over £ 1000 at our annual coffe morning (mind you school roll is under 30 pupils..)
Our best fundraiser - in that it gives regular funds for little effort - is the rag bag. It is a local company who provide a textile bin and pay teh school so much per ton every time it fills up. Handy for parents who can dump old clothes when they drop kids off to school - and provides regualr (although small - under £ 100) amounts to the school.

Hi. I'm new to Mumsnet but really keen to set up a Fireworks Display at our local primary school in London. Can anyone recommend any links to set me on the right track? Thanks
