i am doing some research for my niece who is falling behind at quite an academic state school (she'll soon be in year 4)

her parents are thinking of moving her to a different school where she may experience less pressure.

it occured to me that if they found a vertically grouped year 3/ 4 class, then she might be able to work more at her pace/ level( as she's performing below her chronological age by a year or so).

dyou think that might work for her, or am i clutching at straws??

my dc are in a very small school, so 7 school years in 5 classes. So they are mixed up in each class according to ability, so Years 2 and 3 might work together or separately. Works for us! Small also means that the different groups are changed very regularly, so the children work with different friends and classmates.
