Do they have to wear logo stuff all the time?

Ds due to start reception in Sep and at parents induction the only mention of the uniform was about the local shop that sells the logo'd polo tops/sweatshirts etc... I didn't think to ask if ds could wear plain ones.... logo = 6.50 each more for long sleeve whereas M&S are doing 3 for £3 with more cotton which I'd prefer..the colour is yellow and DS a complete grub so would need clean ones every day.... do your kids wear logo all the time?..... the school seemed really cliquey only a bog standard local primary though so dont want him to stand out..

as long as the jumper is logoed I think it's fine

after all they spend all winder with just the collar of the polo shirt peeking above the jumper so it doesn't matter if it's log'ed or not

I know all schools are different but.....DS has two logoed jumpers and 3 non logoed (is that a word?) ones. DS is also a very scruffy young man so they don't last more than one day. Certainly not everyone has logoes at our school. I tend to make sure he wears his official one for things like assemblies etc. I would buy one/two official ones and stock up with M&S for others.

my ds has worn his only a handful of times in reception as it takes so long to get a class of 30 reception kids ready for pe they invariably just take shoes and socks off

Everyone at the school seem to wear logoed stuff....I've bought a couple of logoed shirts for each child, but have decided to be wild and start and trend for plain shirts. I know how many they get through, adn just cant aford millions of logoed ones.

We ask for children to wear school colours as we know not all parents can afford the logo version.

Our school doesn't insist on logos, just colours.

I'd personally send him in logo stuff because I wouldn't want him to get singled out. Price does seem a bit shocking though!

Rather than asking the school, I would go into the local shop so that you are anon. and ask if they know if logos are compulsory.

At our school the HT thinks that everyone should wear logo-d polo shirts. Dh is Chair of Governors and disagrees.

They have plain white polos (with a smart burgundy logod jumper) - so need clean shirts every day. I buy packs of polos from Tesco each year, and just throw them out if they get stained.

I buy five x logo'd sweatshirts and plain polos.

Lots of kids wear non-logo polos, but virtually all wear logo'd sweatshirts.

thanks, the logo'd sweatshirts are £10 each but are dark green so hopefully will show less dirt.....maybe 2/3 of those with plain polos may be the answer !! they seem also seem v expensive considering the quality....apparently can't get badges and sew them on myself...wasn't some study done on excessive prices for school uniforms recently.???

My 3 only wear logo sweatshirts and cardies but plenty of people wear plain ones.

Hardly anyone at ours wears the logo polos.

Can you loiter at pick up time one day and check out what everyone's wearing?

I bought logoed stuff for Reception, but after the sweatshirt was stolen lost I replaced each item with plain. DS being singled out for non-logo wearing was never an issue.

If I had been in the position of needing 5 sweatshirts a week I would only buy 1 logoed one and the rest plain. Ds's uniform was navy, so not such a problem.

In our school most wear sweatshirts or cardies with logos, but it's not compulsory and not a big deal for children who don't. DD1 wore a plain cardy in Reception because she was so anxious about starting she refused to wear anything with the school's logo (the anxiety had worn off by end of day 1, but she wore the cardies until she outgrew them).

I buy cheap, plain polos because the ones with logos are too expensive. Again, not compulsory and nobody's bothered.

My older DD has two cardigans now; younger DD has more because of hand-me-downs, but two is enough.

It's not offically compulsary at our school but all the kids wear the proper school logo-ed polo shirt & jumper, if a child doesn't, they'd really stand out.

I ordered a couple of sweatshirts and the PE kit - everything else is just the colours. Just too expensive and I don't really agree with it.

I get the Marks and Spencers polos and get logo'ed myself (found out who school gets to do it). It costs £4 for a logo so its still quite expensive but with M&S 3 for 2 a little cheaper.

ds starts primary 1 this year (Scotland), for any new polos I'm hoping I'll be able to cut out old logos and sew onto new polos.

Anyone tried this? Do the logo's wash okay so they will they be re-usable?

phoned school and got a very begrudging well its ok to just wear the colours.. so thats what I am going to get ...plus 1 logo sweat + polo for special occasions!
