Here goes....

DD was due to start in reception in September at the the local infantsschool DS2 attends. We had already decided DS2 would not be going to the partenr junior school, but to another junior school, one mile away in the ohter direction.

We had very much hoped DD would have the same reception teacher as DS1 and DS2, who is a really wonderful persona and a great teacher. Unfortunately we have just learned DD has been place in the parallel class with a teacher DS2 is terrified of, who has unsettled me with her shouting, and who will be on maternity leave for the autumn term, meaning a change in teacher for the class. A teacher for maternity cover has not yet been found. Also, DD's two best friends are not in the same class as her, leaving her a bit bewildered as to why she won't be with them, or in the class her brothers were in. (There has been a lot of "When you are in Mrs X's class" from the DSs, even though I have repeatedly pointed out she may not be in that class)

So, DH phoned the head to ask if there was any chance, if the year wasn't full, of changing DD, and was me with more than a slightly frost reception, although I can understand why won't give in to us as it would open the flood gated for other parents to request a change.

As a result we have decided to move both DC's to the infant school of the Junior school they would have been attending anyway.I imagine it will a bit of a wrench for DS2, moving into Y2 at another infant school, rather than into Y3 at Junior school as we had intended.

If you've read this far, thankyou....I'm soooo stressed that we are doing the right thing......I mean, I have no idea what the teachers are like in the other school, although it does have a very good ofsted report.

Are DH and I having a tantrum, or are we doing the logical thing????

I've already contacted admissions to move DD, but should I leave DS2 where he is?

I would move them both. If they are going to the Junior school it makes sense for them to go to the Infant feeder school.

Thankyou

Well, as you say, you don't actually know the teachers and they could be twice as bad! Personally I would have given it a chance. Who knows - the teacher may not come back from maternity leave.

Do you actually have places at the new school? If so, how come? Is it undersubscribed for reasons you don't know about?

and some teachers like girls more than boys!

But surely the teacher issue a side it would be very difficult having 2 children at 2 different schools a mile apart ?
