How long for an Ofsted report to be published

Its been 6 weeks since the inspection now. Is it true that the longer it takes to be published the more likely it is to be a bad report?

Hmmm. Ours was inspected recently and the report was published and sent home to parents the following week. it was Outstanding...

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 27/04/2009 21:05

Could be something in the rumours then. I've heard gossip that it'll be a miracle if the school gets "satisfactory". Must admit I'm expecting it to be poor.

That's a shame. Hope you find out either way soon.

mrz · 27/04/2009 21:10

No there is no truth in the longer it takes the more likely it is to be a bad report. Have you looked on line? The latest reports are 1/4/09

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 27/04/2009 21:12

I'm looking online every day. Inspection was mid March.

I know at least one school given a notice to improve and a couple put in special measures that had their reports on line within two weeks. Have you asked the school?

I know a private setting who had to be re inspected because the inspector took ill and lost the report...

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 27/04/2009 21:46

I haven't asked the school, think I will if its not published by the end of the week. Thanks.

It was published this morning. The rumours were right - the overall score is 4, "this school does not provide an acceptable level of education".

Do you know what measures the school is under?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 28/04/2009 22:12

It says they've been given a notice to improve.

School have sent a letter out this afternoon saying they're disappointed especially as the school came 24th out of nearly 300 schools in the county for SATS results.

So what do I believe - my own gut instinct and an Ofsted report that agrees with my instinct, ot SATS results?

To be given a notice to improve means things aren't right but the OFSTED see evidence that the staff are capable of turning things around so it is more positive than being put in Special Measures where they would put a new leadership team in place. The school should get support from the LA and it can actually turn out to be a good thing in a way. Poor staff usually jump ship and lots of positives can come from it.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/04/2009 11:14

Well I've jumped ship. The thought of the staff jumping ship worried me. Was concerned that they would struggle to replace them as noone would want to work there. So have taken DD out, she's gone to a new school today to see how she likes that. I'm just praying she does.

Hi stripey, I was shocked bybthe report aswell, but think a lot is to do with the previous head.
Where have you sent your DD?

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/04/2009 11:38

I agree that a lot is to do with the previous head and I think this head will do some good work turning the school around. But she's in her early 60s if I'm right and I suspect she won't stay much longer. Also there are a lot of staff who to put it bluntly I think are crap. The longer DD is at that school the more I realise it. She had a crap teacher in Yr 2, Yr 3 started off good but now Mr E has left and she has another crap one. Though she's leaving at the end of June and then it will be supply for the rest of the year. There are crap teachers in Yr 4 and 5 as well by all accounts. I'm sick of being worried this time every year whether she'll be put in the good teacher's class or the crap teacher's class.

She's gone to H*y, 2 miles south (sorry, am being cryptic as don't want identify school I'm slagging off, sure you can work it out. Fantastic Ofsted report, really nice feel to the school, passionate headteacher who seems very nice. 3 other familes made the move in the last couple of years. I spoke to one of them this morning and she said she's never regretted it. That there is a world of difference between the schools and that she didn't realise how bad S was until they saw what a good school is like. She says her DD has come on amazingly since swopping.

There should have been a few more stars in the H*y, but they seem to have been edited out. Will try again.

I'm not happy with my dd's teacher at the moment either , I will wait and see who it is for next year ,as we may not even be here then. May be being posted back the the north of Scotland again !!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/04/2009 18:11

Is S going into Yr 2 next year? Just hope you don't get Mrs H if so.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/04/2009 18:12

Who's your friend btw? I've met K and C from the village whose kids go their.

flossie64 · 29/04/2009 18:41

Yes S is in Yr2 next . She already has Mrs H--t-n, that would be a reason to move if she got her again . The woman is usless.

flossie64 · 29/04/2009 18:43

My friend lives there so you probably won't have met her yet. Her Ds is 8 though so might be in the same class. DS is a scottish name, she starts with J

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 29/04/2009 19:16

I have to say with staff like her I wasn't shocked by the Ofsted Report. There's a very poor Yr 3 teacher as well and someone says one of the Yr 4 teachers ain't great. Ofsted inspectors are obviosuly very astute at working it all out.

DD's loved her day at H today and come home and says she wants to change school. She says the teacher at H is much better than what she's used to and he explains things better.
