What happens if we move??

Once a school place has been allocated in England (London), does the LEA ask again for proof of address/residence before the school year begins? We need to move (same borough but not necessarily super near the schools we would like to apply for that we live near to now) and trying to plan whats best to do! -Berluddy credit crunch!-

We'd hate for us to get DD a place then move in the summer and find we then too far from the school catchment and lose our place.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

I should say that they can't withdraw offer once the place has been given. But our education authority not London.

TBH would be amazed if they could do that to you.

They do remove place if they find out you have fibbed on purpose on application form eg put MIL address which is in catchment area as your child's.

I thnk you will be ok.

i think you do loose the place if its an oversubscribed school. dd has just been allocated her place but wont start until jan2010, we have to prove that we still live at our current address before she starts school.

We had to supply the proof of address information about 3 weeks before actually starting at the school. The accompanying letter broadly said that it was a last check to ensure that all places had been offered appropriately. Not sure whether they would have withdrawn a place if we had needed to prove that the place was initially offered and accepted legitimately and we had subsequently moved.

As Cory says - ask the LEA.

Where we are, it's where you're living when they actually go on the first day of school. So if you moved over the summer, you'd lose the place.

My friend in Islington moved and kept her place in Sept that was allocated in May last year. Yes agree best check with your local LA.
