Can I ask which level ORT books your YR 1 children (particularly boys) are on

Just interested to know as I don't really speak to any other mums in my ds's class, and although I know he is behind, i am wondering how much.

OP posts:

I must confess I also thought wasuup's post was a bit boastful when I first read it. However the balanced posts since have neutralised it's affect!

Dd is in Y1, they don't tend to read much ORT - hurray! Not all of her books have a 'level', I think the latest one was a Yellow Banana book if that makes any sense?

I really wouldn't worry though, dd's class seems to have a massive variety of readers from the very brilliant to the not quite there yet. I've also noticed that an awful lot of children who struggled in YR to read are really quite competent now.

Why are you worried? What stage is he at?

it's effect I mean.

Or do I mean affect?

I've got a mental blank. I think I should be on ORT -0

erm nope only one g and t seeker but see it anyway you want...so much for accepting peoples differences prejudice is very much alive and kicking I see!

Not quite sure I understand what you are saying?

seeker · 09/03/2009 18:25

I really don't understand why you've accused me of prejudice, wasuup - please could you explain?

myredcardigan · 09/03/2009 19:35

To be fair to wasuup, the OP's very thread title asks posters to tell her which ORT level their children are on so she can assess how far behind her DS is. She simply answered the question whilst also saying it varied hugely. Actually, I thought her post was very balanced.

I just mean that sometimes if someone is expressing concern about their child it doesn't particularly help to steam in and mention how well your own child is doing in comparison. wasuup could've said the paragraph about children differing without mentioning the other stuff. Just to be generous to the OP's concerns.

However it's not a big deal really. No prejudice here, just a comment.
